Edgewater, Maryland September 29, 2023 – The United Church of Christ of Annapolis (UCCA) is excited to welcome Rev. Ellen Witko as the church’s new Pastor. The UCCA is part of the Central Atlantic Conference of The United Church of Christ (UCC).
Rev. Witko is an ordained minister in the UCC and has served churches in New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. She has been a member of UCCA for about three years and has served as Pastoral Care Associate. Recently she also took on the role of Bridge Pastor while members searched for a new pastor.
In 2004 Pastor Witko graduated Magna cum Laude from the Theological School at Drew University, receiving prizes in homiletics and scripture reading. She is currently writing her dissertation on How Following Harriet Tubman Today Leads to Personal Transformation and hopes to complete a doctorate within a year.
Rev. Ellen Witko, the new pastor at the United Church of Christ of Annapolis in Edgewater, MD.
Rev. Witko and her family, including pups Storm and Jenny, live on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
The members of UCCA are excited to grow and thrive under her leadership as she guides the church’s continuing commitment to follow Jesus in advocating for “the least of these,” on issues such as immigration reform, racial equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, environmental protection, homelessness, economic justice, and climate change.
The UCCA members and friends are tireless advocates for social issues and founding members of Anne Arundel Connecting Together (ACT), members of Annapolis Immigration Justice Network (AIJN), and support Annapolis Light House, Anne Arundel Affirming Alliance (A4), among other ministries.
