ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Capital reported that Arundel High School won the volleyball county championship on Saturday, beating Broadneck High School in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-21).
The Wildcats are now 13-0, and the Bruins are 11-2. Both Broadneck losses were to Arundel. This is Arundel volleyball's eighth county title, The Capital said.
"The pressure, the energy from everywhere," Arundel senior Taylor Johnson told The Capital. "I just channeled that all in and let it out on the floor."
The game was part of the first-ever County Championship Showcase, where Annapolis High School facilities hosted 12 title matches in one day.
"Many thanks to the hundreds of #AACPSAwesome team members who came together Saturday to put on the County Championship Showcase at Annapolis High School," Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Facebook. "It was a day of incredible competition by our student-athletes and opportunities for fans to watch multiple events! THANK YOU ALL!"
