ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, MD - A prisoner escaped from a transport van Wednesday near the border between Anne Arundel and Howard Counties, police said.
Officers identified the suspect as Randy Morris, 38. Authorities said he stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 130 to 140 pounds. They described him as a bald man with a beard.
Police said he was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue shorts.
He is no longer wearing handcuffs or shackles, officers said.
Authorities said they heard about the escape around 8:30 a.m.
Police said Morris escaped from the van in Howard County near Dorsey Run Road and Maryland Route 32. That's located in Annapolis Junction about 3 miles from the Jessup Correctional Institution in Anne Arundel County.
Patch has not yet confirmed whether Morris is an inmate at the Jessup prison or another facility.
Officers are searching for Morris on foot and with drones.
The Maryland State Police are leading the search. The Howard County Police Department and the Anne Arundel County Police Department are also helping.
