How It Happened

Authorities said they heard about the stabbing Thursday around 12:47 p.m.

Police said the victim was at the Subway, located at 8765 Piney Orchard Parkway, with his girlfriend and her child.

Officers said the suspect, a former significant other of the girlfriend and the father of the child, arrived at the restaurant.

An argument broke out and the suspect tried to grab the child, authorities said.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said the victim intervened and a physical fight started with the suspect, leading the suspect to stab the victim.

Six police cars were blocking off the road when Patch arrived around 1:50 p.m. They left the area just before 3 p.m.

Subway closed temporarily for the investigation and clean-up. The restaurant has since reopened.

The surrounding businesses remained open throughout the investigation.
