ReplyLiberals and math... never a good combination. No spending increase is too much, no dollar amount too finite.
This is kind of funny, in a poetice way. The big-spenders in MoCo vs. the big-spending types in Annapolis.
Allllll aboard... the runaway freight train to destitution!

ReplyI do like Fenwick's - the owners are knowledgeable and genuine. Good place to shop. Expensive though, so I try to space out the visits.
On another note, Washington City Paper also revealed that Silver Spring was a favorite of "people who enjoy spending other people's earned money." Who'd a thunk?

Great point Larry! "Tax Hike" Ike Leggett claims to want a "vibrant" night scene in Silver Spring a la Arlington and DC... but instead we have this kind of stinker.
HOW ARE THEY STILL IN BUSINESS? They should write a book... it can be the anti-MBA book on "how to be awful at the restaurant business but still stay in operations for several years."

ReplyNo worries...I'm pretty sure the funding won't be there. As usual, Maryland has pretty much already spent much of what it will take in.
Let's see, the capital beltway (MD side) needs an estimated $1.5 billion for long-term structural response. The "roads and bridges" of this state will require still more. Then there's the unfunded pension "scheme" being kicked down the road. Oh yeah, then there's the federal sequester.
So, essentially something is going to have to give. My guess is that B-more gets screwed. And then MD will cry poor, as usual, to the Feds for the funds to build this stupid Purple line.
In other news: officials expect the Silver Spring transit cent to open in 2020 as well.

ReplySenator Cardin wants to do what Dems (and some Republicans) always do - avoid tough decisions to further political goals and power. If the choice was between paying off the federal debt in 10 years (with pain spread among everyone) or furthering their own career 1 year, they would choose to further their career.
THAT IS HOW BANKRUPT we are as a nation. Ask yourself: would any of these MD politicians put balancing our budget, in 10 years, over their own political career?

Hey FIFA:
Mikulski is one of the nastiest, most contemptible people in the Senate. She looks like a toad with hair. I have nothing but contempt for her, because she has literally NOTHING but contempt for honest, hard-working PRIVATE SECTOR Americans.
NOTHING, NOTHING she does is ever bi-partisan. She is a hack who makes everything about politics, not governing.
Am I apologist for Republicans? Heck no. I want people of courage, on both sides. I want people who put country first. She ain't one of them.

I could not agree with you more. Cardin is silent. So is McSulksy. These trashy politicians are like kittens at the teet of a pregnant cat. They need the mother's milk (federal spending) to keep up the show. There is nothing that can't be solved with more tax dollars, more government or more laws.
Thanks RARE MARYLAND for your awesome, truth-to-power post.

Ahhh, good ol' propagandists coming to defend their statist divas.
Let's start with the obvious: YES, MARYLAND HAS GREAT SCHOOLS. I would hope you have "great" schools when you spend 9th most, in country, per-pupil (SOURCE for TRUTH HUNGRY LEFTISTS - HUFFINGTON POST - google it). Having great schools is THE LEAST you can do when spending that much money every year and essentially killing your taxpayers and small businesses to do it. This is like saying "I have the best car on the block" because you shelled out for a BMW while everyone else drives a Honda - but everyone else in your hood lives within budget and in a better looking house. And they get down the road all the same.
Now, what else does "Progressive MD" spend money on, I wonder? Could it be imprisoning black people? Why yes, yes it is. According to the state's OWN DATA, 72% of those imprisoned are black.
And what else does awesome MD spend our money on? Could it be... that... gasp... they give out corporate welfare? Just like Bush? Welfare in the form of $22 million in tax credits to a developer in Baltimore? Or an energy firm in Frederick?
Face it, apologists for this trash are either hard-core social darwinists or just boobs, who see "D" and vote "D" because they don't follow politics. A true "progressive" wouldn't fall for this junk and would do the research to know better.
Finally, what

Tasers are a real problem. Period. There should only be certain cops who have them and those cops should be strictly trained in their use (they should be the absolute last resort before a gun).
Tasers have been linked to deaths in numerous cases (like the guy in Gaithersburg yesterday, who got struck by two).
When will this "progressive" county wake up and ban 'em in schools? No guns in schools but "yes" to tasers? Stupid.
