Andre, you are an intelligent and thoughtful man, and the sort of person anyone would want to have in his or her neighborhood. The individual invoking MLK (who must be doing revolutions in his grave!) is quite the opposite--and the sort of person who is part of the problem, not the solution. The county's reaction to the residents' push to shut down My Place and the sleazy establishments around it was a joke: first, they wanted me to run a full-time campaign against the liquor board (they like the way I write, but forgot that I have a mortgage to pay), then, essentially, to tell us to pound salt. When we tried to petition for a doggie-park in the complex, they told us the land was too valuable--even though most of us who pay fees for the "amenities" never get to use them, or attend the parties and so on. You aren't going to reason with this person because he/she doesn't want to be confused by the facts. It will be interesting to see how he/she answers you, though. Thank you for caring about your neighborhood and your neighbors.
