Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to hang out with the people of Odenton on Saturday. Kris Kringle will first appear at the "Lunch with Santa" event at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Hall. The lunch will go from noon to 1:30 and the cost is $5. Advance registration is required. Guests can register in person Monday from 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Or call Linda at 410-674-5536. Santa will also make an appearance at the Waugh Chapel Elementary School Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. How will Santa be in two places at once? Call it serious Christmas magic. I stopped by Waugh Chapel Elementary School on Friday morning to meet the school's new principal, Amanda Edmonds, and she took some time to show me one of the nice new additions at the school. On the blacktop behind the school is a new map of the United States, painted by a former student. Jennifer Hewitt, who attended Waugh Chapel Elementary and now goes to Arundel High, took time during the summer to paint the nicely detailed map, which is located right alongside the school's new playground. You may recall that Odenton Elementary School got a similar map painted by students last year. It's also worth noting that Waugh Chapel Elementary got some recent upgrades to the garden area in front of the school, and Four Seasons Elementary …

Waugh Chapel Elementary, Arundel Middle and Meade High will have new principals for the 2012-2013 school year.
Three local schools are set to get a new principal before the start of the new school year, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). Nine of the 17 total schools getting new administrators will have first-time principals when schools open in August. Superintendent Kevin Maxwell transferred six principals to different schools. “I believe these changes make us better as an overall system as we continue along our journey to greatness,” Maxwell said in a press release. “I am excited about the talented group of new principals who have been promoted and am confident that those principals who are changing locations will be great assets to the new communities which they will now serve.” Official changes reportedly take effect on …
