What Does Odenton Want for Christmas?

Here's a look at what the town is hoping for as we head into 2013.

If Odenton were to sit on Santa's lap, it might have a long list of requests.  From new businesses to road improvements, there are many things that the town could use in 2013. But will Santa come through? Here's a look at Odenton's Christmas list.  A New Grocery Store - Early in 2012, there was hope that landlords at the Odenton Shopping Center would secure a lease for the vacant Superfresh site. But that hasn't happened yet, leaving many residents frustrated. Perhaps 2013 will bring a new grocer to Odenton.  Apartment Leases - There are hundreds of apartment units under construction in Odenton. It would be a shame to see them empty, so here's to hoping developers have luck in finding tenants in the coming year.  Money for Roads - This is …

Nothing Final Yet at Superfresh Site

Landlords at the Odenton Shopping Center said they remain in exclusive negotiations with a new grocer to fill the empty spot. And they have finalized a lease to fill part of the former Spunk Fitness space.

Many local residents attended the meeting of the Odenton Town Center Plan Oversight Committee on Tuesday hoping to hear news of what grocer will fill the space once occupied by Superfresh. They walked away without any answers. An official from Nellis Corp., which owns the Odenton Shopping Center, said the company remains in exclusive negotiations with a grocer, which he declined to name. Company representative Pete Federowicz declined to provide a timeline as to when a lease agreement would be finalized. However, Federowicz revealed that the landlord has secured a lease from a kidney dialysis company to fill about half of the space once occupied by Spunk Fitness. He also said Nellis will move forward with plans to revitalize the facade of …

Why can't someone come to a decision about a grocery store? We really do need one in Odenton. Weis is good if you don't have time to run to Shopper's on Quarterfield Rd. or Giant in Glen Burnie but overall it's expensive. Is the rent so horribly high that noone wants to be a part of that shopping center? The liquor store in the Odenton shopping center seems to be going to hell in a handbasket too…   more ›

Grocer Signs Letter of Intent for Superfresh Site

Landlords are in negotiations to finalize a lease agreement, but declined to identify the potential tenants.

A new grocery store has signed a letter of intent to fill the space left by the old Superfresh store, the landlord said this week. Officials from Nellis Corp., which owns the Odenton Shopping Center, told other tenants that it is in talks to finalize a deal with a "high-quality" grocer. The company also said it has a letter of intent for a portion of the space once occupied by Spunk Fitness. Nellis representative Peter Federowicz said negotiations are ongoing, and declined to named which companies had signed letters of intent. The Superfresh store has been vacant since July, after its parent company declared bankruptcy. Since then, Nellis and broker KLNB have been aggressively marketing the site. Other tenants in the shopping center said …
