Santa to Visit Odenton Saturday

The big man will host "Lunch With Santa" at the Odenton fire hall, then stop by the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to hang out with the people of Odenton on Saturday.  Kris Kringle will first appear at the "Lunch with Santa" event at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Hall. The lunch will go from noon to 1:30 and the cost is $5. Advance registration is required. Guests can register in person Monday from 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Or call Linda at 410-674-5536. Santa will also make an appearance at the Waugh Chapel Elementary School Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  How will Santa be in two places at once? Call it serious Christmas magic.  At 5 p.m., Santa will roll over to Babington Green Park at the corner of Piney Orchard Parkway and Odenton Road for town's official tree lighting…

Photos: Holiday Spirit All Over Town

There was merriment all over Odenton on Saturday, with holiday fairs and special visits from Santa Claus. Patch was on hand to enjoy the fun.

Saturday was a busy day around Odenton, with holiday cheer at several locations. We started the day at the Lunch With Santa Event at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Co. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus had a great time with scores of youngsters, who also enjoyed a puppet show. It was also a packed house at the Waugh Chapel Elementary School Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair. Santa made an appearance there and posed for pictures, and there were lots of goodies for sale. There was also a silent auction with some great items up for bid. In the afternoon, we hit the official Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Babington Green. Santa's Local Schedule

Santa Claus will make several pre-Christmas appearances in the area. Here's a look at where he'll be and when.

This is supposed to be the busy time of year for Santa Claus, but he will fortunately be making several appearances in Odenton and other nearby places before Christmas. Breakfast and Bowling at Greenway Bowl When: Sunday, 10 a.m. to noon. Where: Greenway Bowl, Odenton. Details: Kris Kringle will test his skills at the lanes, and share a great breakfast with families. Every child gets a visit and a gift from Santa. Cost is $59.95 per lane, or $12 per person. Community Group to Honor Lifelong Resident, Firefighter

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association will name Ray Hodgson as its citizen of the year on Wednesday night.

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association on Wednesday will honor a lifelong area resident and firefighter with its annual Odenton Citizen of the Year award.   GOIA will recognize R.E. “Ray” Hodgson, the assistant chief of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, with its annual award for contributions to the community. Hodgson is an Army veteran and former GOIA director, and has been with the Odenton Volunteer Fire Co. for 25 years. Retired from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Hodgson is currently employed as a manager and instructor at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute in College Park. Hodgson is credited with boosting the training of firefighters in Odenton, while working to upgrade equipment and safety procedures. He has …
