Police said four men tried to crash a party, then fired shots from the parking lot.
One man was hospitalized after being shot early Sunday morning at the Royal Inn in Odenton. Anne Arundel County police responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. and learned that there had been a party inside a room of the motel, and four men arrived and began fighting with someone in the room. The men were forced out, but one of the suspects then fired several shots up toward the room from the parking lot, police said. A 19-year-old man was struck in the leg by a bullet. He was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, but his injuries were not life-threatening. The four suspects remain at large and the investigation is ongoing. Living at the Royal Inn isn't easy, but it is home to as many as 100 people, including many families with young children. The holiday spirit was out in full on Thursday, however, as Santa Claus arrived by fire truck and families enjoyed music and even a Christmas tree. Children took time to write letters to Santa, and the Chick-fil-A cow was on hand to deliver meals. Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department organized the event with local churches as part of ongoing efforts to improve conditions along Annapolis Road in north Odenton. Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department are working to bring some holiday cheer to to families residing at the Royal Inn in Odenton. Officers have partnered with members of the community to provide dinner to families Thursday night, and will be on hand as Santa Claus visits with members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department. Police said it was an extension of its effort to improve the quality of life in the north Odenton corridor, often referred to as "Boomtown." Anne Arundel County police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Royal Inn in Odenton on Monday morning. Police said they got a call shortly after 2:50 a.m. reporting a disturbance at the motel, located at the 1600 block of Annapolis Rd. Officers arrived and spoke with a 24-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, who said they were in their room with the door partially open when three unknown men entered. Police said one of the suspects grabbed the woman while another held down the male victim. A third suspect flashed a handgun, police said. Anne Arundel County police arrested two people in connection to a robbery at the Royal Inn early Saturday morning. Police said in a press release that they responded at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday and spoke to a 23-year-old man who said he was robbed. The victim told police that he was in his room with the door open when a man and woman entered. The victim told police that the man pushed him down and demanded his property. The victim handed over his cell phone and some money. According to police, the suspects then entered another room in the motel. Police arrested three people after being called to the Odenton motel for a disturbance.
A fight over illegal drugs at the Royal Inn at 1630 Annapolis Rd. resulted in the arrest of three people on Friday night, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Police were called to the Odenton motel shortly before 10 p.m. for a disturbance. Witnesses told police an assault had occurred and pointed to a car trying to leave the parking lot. Witnesses identified the occupants of the vehicle as being responsible. Officers stopped the 2004 gold Chevy Trailbazer and discovered more than 13 grams of crack cocaine. Richard George Bohlander, 62, lived at the motel. He died after being found there Friday morning with injuries to his upper body.
Anne Arundel County police have identified a man who died from injuries at the Royal Inn motel in Odenton last week. Police said they are still investigating the death of 62-year-old Richard George Bohlander, and are awaiting the results of an autopsy. Bohlander resided at the Royal Inn, police said. Bohlander was found in the office area of the Royal Inn suffering from wounds to the upper body. Parmedics transported him to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he died.
