Hanover Shopping Strip Expanding

The center off Dorsey Road is getting a larger Cantina Mamma Lucia and dental office.

The shopping center off of Dorsey and Ashton Roads in Hanover is undergoing an expansion.  There's a flurry of construction activity that includes a new addition to the Cantina Mamma Lucia Italian restaurant on the strip's east end. The Meah Family Dentistry is also expanding on the other side.  The shopping center includes a wide range of businesses, including the headquarters of the Fort Meade Alliance, a Pakistani restaurant and a nail salon.  Have you seen any other construction activity around town? Local Impact on Fed Action: One Consultant's Take

Will the Federal Reserve's decision to buy additional bonds have an impact on the local real estate market?

On Thursday, the Federal Reserve decided to try and inject some new life into the economy by announcing it will buy $85 billion in bonds this year.  Economists said in theory, the move will lower interest rates and possibly make it easier for companies to borrow money. This could, in turn, make it easier for companies to hire new workers, thus reducing unemployment.  This could also result in lower interest rates on mortgages, (which are already historically low). I wanted to know how this might impact the real estate market locally. There are still many people looking to sell their homes if they can, but also about 1,000 new rental apartments coming online at various developments in the Odenton Town Center.  I spoke with Julie Orsini, a …

A.J. Properties Announces New Leases

The deals include a 10-year renewal from Johns Hopkins and a five-year renewal from Pachanga Grill in Odenton.

A.J. Properties on Wednesday announced a series of new commercial leases and renewals at properties in Odenton. In some cases, the leases were for spaces that A.J. Properties owns. In other cases, representatives from the company helped broker the deals on behalf of landlords, tenants or both.  The agreements include: -A 10-year renewal from Johns Hopkins for its space at the Odenton Health and Technology Campus. There is an additional 64,000 square feet of space available for pre-lease in a third building planned for the campus. -Oasis Consignments signed a lease for 2,600 square feet at A.J.
