Woman Dies After Being Struck On Parkway

A woman was found on the side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and later died at a hospital, a fire department spokesman said.

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Tuesday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.   Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units received a call of a woman who had been struck while walking on or along the road near Maryland Route 100 West.  Thompson said she was found with very critical injuries and was transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore, where she later died.  Thompson said investigators were working to identify the woman, who was believed to be approximately 23 years old. Severn Man Identified as Hit-and-Run Victim

Police said Michael J. Diegel was seriously hurt when he was struck by a van in Brooklyn Park last week.

Anne Arundel County police said a Severn man was seriously hurt Thursday when he was truck by a van while walking in Brooklyn Park.  Police said Michael J. Diegel was hospitalized with critical injuries, and they have charged the driver of the van with leaving the scene of an accident.  According to police, the incident happened at 12:37 a.m. Thursday at Ritchie Highway northbound near Camrose Avenue. Police arrived at the scene to find Diegel, 57, lying in the roadway with traumatic injuries. He was rushed to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.  Police investigated, and determined that Diegel was hit by a gold 2001 Chevrolet Venture. Letter to Seven Oaks Parents on Struck Child

School Principal Lisa Leitholf said she has been in touch with the family of the boy struck by a vehicle on his way to school Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, a first-grader at Seven Oaks Elementary was struck by a vehicle on his way to school. The following letter was posted online by Anne Arundel County Public Schools to parents of students at Seven Oaks Elementary School. MARC Expects Reduced Capacity During Evening Rush

The rail service took one train offline after a train struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday morning. Three Penn Line trains will operate with fewer cars from Washington, DC.

MARC trains will operate with reduced capacity on the Penn Line Tuesday evening, after a train struck and killed a pedestrian near Martin State Airport earlier in the day. MARC said the accident forced train 517—which operates with eight cars—to be taken out of service for repairs and cleaning. With the reduction in available cars, three trains will operate with fewer cars than normal during Tuesday's evening rush hour. "This will cause significant capacity constraints for this evening’s commute," MARC said in an email to riders. Woman Critical After Being Struck on Telegraph Road

A 49-year old woman was transported to Shock Trauma just before 8 p.m. The accident forced Telegraph Road to be temporarily shut down.

A 49-year-old woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Sunday night after being struck by a car on Telegraph Road (MD-170) near the border of Odenton and Severn. Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said emergency crews responded at about 7:19 p.m. to the intersection of Telegraph Road and Midway Road. The victim was transported by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma, and was suffering from serious and life-threatening injuries. The accident led to the temporary closure of Telegraph Road in both directions. Patch will update this with additional information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck Friday Night in Millersville Has Died

Victim airlifted to trauma center.

According to Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue spokesman Chief Michael Cox, a pedestrian was struck in Millersville around 8 p.m. on Friday. Cox said that the accident happened in the area of Veteran's Highway at Benfield Road. The victim, a 40-year-old man whose identity was not released to the media, was flown by Maryland State helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries.  UPDATE (10 a.m. Oct. 8): The bicyclist involved in the collision at Veteran's Highway and W. Benfield Road has died. He has been identified as Matthew Jeffrey Young, 40, no fixed address, according to a report released by Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Glenn Shanahan.  The report said that a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven …

Seven Injured in Rt. 3 Accident

A Saturday night accident at Route 3 and Johns Hopkins Road left a man and a teenager with serious but non life threatening injuries. Five other victims were also checked for injuries following the accident.

Anne Arundel County Fire crews responded to a Saturday night accident that sent seven people to area hospitals. A man and teenage girl suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Michael Cox. He said a “pedestrian struck” call came into the department around 10:20 p.m. Cox said a 15-year-old girl was brushed by a vehicle attempting to cross with another vehicle. A person from one of the vehicles stepped out to check on the teen. That’s when a third vehicle ran into the accident scene. That impact injured a 30-year-old man who was in one of the two vehicles involved in the initial brush with the teenager. A United States Park Police helicopter transported the injured man…
