Residents of Fort Meade should be aware of sobriety checkpoints at random entrance gates on New Year's Eve. The installation said on its Facebook page that the Fort Meade Police Department will conduct the checks as part of the "Checkpoint Strike Force through the Zero Deaths" campaign. The checkpoints will be at random gates on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, and are designed to reduce the number of DUI-related crashes.
