A Gambrills man was sentenced to eight years in jail after pleading guilty to possessing hundreds of images and videos of child pornography. Robert Jay Hudson, 25, will also have 40 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. Prosecutors said investigators discovered photos and videos on Hudson’s computer depicting “sadistic” sexual abuse of children under 12, including infants. Rod J. Rosentein, the U.S. Attorney for the State of Maryland, announced the sentence Tuesday. According to details of Hudson’s plea agreement, investigators were first alerted to the case in April of 2011, when someone with access to Hudson’s computer discovered images of child porn. Two people were hurt in an accident that occurred on Friday on Route 3 near St. Stephens Church Road, according to fire officials.
Two people were hospitalized—one with a life-threatening injury—after a Maryland Route 3 rush hour accident Friday afternoon. Fire department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser said it was a rear-end collision involving two vehicles on Route 3 near St. Stephens Church Road. The second person injured suffered "minor" injuries. Both were transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Officials were reportedly working to clear the accident scene just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Residents along the Maryland Route 3 corridor urged state highway engineers to consider tweaks to the new “Michigan U” traffic pattern, citing continued congestion and motorists running red lights and making illegal turns. Anne Arundel County police have charged a Baltimore man in connection with an alleged “road rage” stabbing on Maryland Route 3 Monday afternoon. Police allege that Ross Brandon Sudbrook, 23, stabbed another man after arguing with him on the road. The vehicle in which Sudbrook was an occupant, a PT Cruiser, and the vehicle in which the stabbing victim was an occupant, a Ford Explorer, were later involved in a collision near the Honda Powersports store in Gambrills. According to a police press release, officers first responded at about 4 p.m. to the intersection of Route 3 North and Churchview Road. A 22-year-old man was seriously hurt Monday afternoon, and two others sustained minor injuries, after a car accident and possible incident of "road rage" violence. Lt. Cliff Kooser of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said two vehicles collided at about 4:30 p.m. near the Honda Powersports store on Maryland Route 3 in Gambrills. Kooser said emergency responders took the 22-year-old man to Maryland Shock Trauma by ambulance. Another man and his son, ages unknown, were sent to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. Anne Arundel County police spokesman Lt. UPDATE (12:30 p.m.)—A Crofton man died early Thursday morning after his 2002 Ford Explorer crashed into a tractor trailer heading southbound on Maryland Route 3. The accident shut down the road in both directions for much of the morning, and resulted in one other person being hospitalized with minor injuries, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County police. Police identified the driver of the Explorer as Salvador Enrique Ayala-Mendoza, 34, of the 900 block of Eastham Ct. in Crofton. He was pronounced dead at the scene after the car caught fire in the accident.
