Maryland Live! Casino Opens Job Application Website for Residents

More then 1,500 new jobs are headed to the area due to the casino at Arundel Mills.

Residents hoping to snag one of the 1,500 new jobs coming to the area from the Maryland Live! Casino can start applying online for management positions. According to a release Tuesday from the Maryland Live! Casino, job descriptions and requirements are posted on the casino’s job website. As the complex draws closer to its opening in the summer of 2012, more jobs will be posted over the next few months. “The launch of our online job application system marks a really exciting milestone in our development process,” said Robert J. Norton, the casino’s president and general manager, in the release. “We’re proud to be able to offer a diverse range of career opportunities to so many people in such a challenging jobs market.” The casino will …

Phillips Seafood Set to be Added to Casino at Arundel Mills

The announcement came Tuesday at a grand opening at the Power Plant in Baltimore.

Phillips Seafood will open a new restaurant at the Maryland Live! Casino at Arundel Mills, the company announced Tuesday. Best known for their crabs and seafood dishes, Phillips will be included in the casino as part of the “Live! Market” section of the complex. The announcement came after a grand opening ceremony at the Power Plant in Baltimore. Steve Phillips, president and CEO of Phillips Foods & Seafood Restaurants and David Cordish, chairman and CEO of The Cordish Companies said their successful partnership in Baltimore paved the way for Phillips’ addition to the gaming center at Arundel Mills. “Just as Phillips’ has become a tremendous new addition to the Power Plant, it is sure to become a favorite at Maryland Live! Maryland Live! Casino Scheduled to Open Summer 2012

The casino's president and general manager spoke to the West County Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce members Tuesday morning.

The general manager of the new Maryland Live! project at Arundel Mills said the casino and entertainment complex is on track to open as soon as this summer. At a meeting before members of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning, Rob Norton insisted that the casino will be safe, with well-lit garages, plazas and at least 80 security officers.  "Bringing a casino into the community is a major change. But the concerns [about crime and safety] never materialize to the level that people anticipate," Norton, a 14-year veteran of the gaming industry, said. "The pros far outweigh the cons.” “We’re not going to succeed if we can’t offer a safe environment,” Norton said. “I fully anticipate this being a safe environment.” …
