A Sun reviewer compared a recent visit with his experience shortly after the casino opened last year.
In a review in The Baltimore Sun Wednesday, writer Wesley Case recognized what he called the "crowded and energized floor" on a recent Friday night visit to the Maryland Live! Casino. Table games went live at the casino in April, after voters approved changes to gambling laws on the November ballot. Case wrote that the casino "appeared to be reaping the benefits of democracy." Case wrote he had wondered when the casino opened in November if the traffic would pickup and the facility would remain sustainable. New money from table games at Maryland Live! led to an overall increase in state gambling proceeds, but fewer people played slots during the month.
Revenue from casinos in the state rose only slightly in April, even after Maryland Live! saw its first month of table games, the Maryland Lottery reported. Total revenue from the state’s three casinos was $58.6 million, or about $2 million more than in March. But that total included $8.4 million in new table game revenue from the Maryland Live! casino near Arundel Mills. Table games made their debut there on April 11. While overall revenue at Maryland Live! rose from $44.6 million to $46.65 million, much of the new revenue from table games was offset by a decline in slots revenue. The casino at Arundel Mills added more than 100 games including craps, blackjack and roulette with live dealers.
Gambling enthusiasts came to the Maryland Live! casino on Wednesday night to celebrate the arrival of table games. The casino began offering games including craps, blackjack and roulette shortly after midnight, with 122 tables featuring live dealers. Baltimore-area native and celebrity Stacy Keibler was in attendance for the festivities along with executives from the Cordish Companies, the casino owner. The increase is in line with revenue gains at casinos elsewhere in Maryland.
The Maryland Live! casino in Hanover saw revenue increase by more than 16 percent in March, while the two other casinos in the state saw similar gains. Maryland Live!, the state's largest casino with more than 4,100 slot machines, saw revenue rise from $38,335,308 to $44,613,545. The Maryland Lottery reported $56,582,630 in slots revenue statewide during March, up from $47,767,536 in February. In addition, the Hollywood Casino in Perryville reported $1,465,763 in revenue from table games introduced in March. Table games will be introduced at Maryland Live! later this month. Opportunity Builders Inc. recently partnered with Maryland Live! to help spread some Easter cheer to casino patrons. Clients at the Millersville organization completed a contract with Halo Promotions to attach lottery tickets to Easter Bunnies. The bunnies will be given out at Maryland Live as part of an Easter promotion, according to OBI's newsletter. Workers put in place 122 tables, which will go into operation on April 11.
The Maryland Live! casino on Wednesday accepted delivery of 122 tables to be used for live gambling next month at the casino. The tables came in on tractor trailers from Las Vegas, and were delicately unloaded and moved to designated areas on the casino floor. On April 11, the tables will be put to use, as Maryland Live! will officially introduce live table games. The table games will include Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini-Baccarat, Pai Gow, Three-Card Poker, Four-Card Poker, Mississippi Stud and Big Six. All of the games will be manned by live dealers, who were trained at a 12-week dealer school held at Marley Station Mall. Rams Head Center Stage will have three country concerts in April and May.
Country music fans can hit the concert stage at Maryland Live! for three shows in April and May. The Rams Head Center Stage will host country music artists Randy Houser, Lee Brice and Chris Cagle. Houser is well known for his debut single, “Anything Goes" from 2008, and his latest single, "How Country Feels,” is in the Billboard Country top 30. Cagle has two #1 albums and 12 charted songs, including his latest single, "Let There Be Cowgirls." Lee Brice is a four-time Academy of Country Music Award nominee and his current single, “I Drive Your Truck" is in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country chart. Here are the details of the shows. Maryland Live! saw revenue rise from $35.9 million to $38.34 million. The state saw a 7.5 percent revenue gain at its three casinos.

Maryland Live! announced this week that it will add more than 120 live table games on April 11, expanding its gambling options to include live blackjack, baccarat, roulette and other games. In addition, the casino is building a two-story poker room with 50 tables in time for summer.
