Arundel Students Visit M-Edge

Nearly 40 students from the school's signature program met with the CEO and got a tour of the Odenton company.

A group of students from Arundel High School got an inside look at one of the area's fastest-growing companies Wednesday, as M-Edge opened its doors to 10th graders involved in the school's signature program.  The 36 students got a tour of the company's offices and warehouses in Odenton, and learned about the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship and innovation.  M-Edge produces covers, sleeves and other accessories for e-readers, tablets and other electronic devices. Its CEO, Patrick Mish, is a 1994 Arundel High graduate.  The 36 students, mostly 10th-graders, made the visits as part of an economics unit tied to the school's Community Development and Global Citizenship Signature Program. iPod Day—What's in Odenton and Severn's Playlist?

Eleven years ago today, the Apple iPod was introduced. If Odenton had a playlist, what would it contain?

Did you know that Oct. 23 was iPod day?  Apparently, Apple introduced the first iPod music device on that day in 2001. And now millions of Americans use the device to listen to their music each day.  We all have favorite playlists. Mine contains an unhealthy amount of pop music from the 1980s, plus some kids songs mixed in. (Depeche Mode and Old McDonald make for an interesting mix.) If the town of Odenton were to create its own playlist, what would it look like? Here are a few suggestions.  The Bangles - Manic Monday — A special ode to the thousands that hop on the MARC train to Washington each morning. Kenny Rogers - The Gambler — Whistle this one while playing the slots at Maryland Live!  Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me — We're just a…

Odenton Company Throws iPhones onto Hard Asphalt

Odenton-based M-Edge just wants to prove how effective their protective iPhone cases are.

Everyone's heart skips a beat when their expensive smartphone drops to the ground. We have brief visions of the phone scattering to a million pieces or, at the very least, refusing to act normally after a tumble to the sidewalk. But one local company is so confident in the sturdiness of their new line of Apple iPhone covers that they've taken to chucking iPhones across parking lots. Odenton-based M-Edge recently announced a new line of "Supershell" cases for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. They're foam cases in a variety of colors, and they are designed to withstand even the most careless operator. Watch the YouTube video to see M-Edge employees chuck some iPhone across the parking lot of the company headquarters in Odenton. I don't know what …

UNCONVINCED! This is a horrible video. If the product really does what it says they wouldn't have cut-a-way shots..i.e..going from chucking the iPhone to then showing it 'okay' after. I just don't see how a silicone (?) case would be able to protect the phone that well.   more ›

M-Edge, an Odenton-based company that makes accessories for electronic reading devices, has filed suit against Amazon.com, alleging the online retailer engaged in patent infringement and unfair competition. In a suit filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland, M-Edge claimed Amazon—the maker of the top-selling Kindle e-reader—engaged in “unlawful corporate bullying” when it demanded increased commission rates and threatened to remove M-Edge products from its store. The company also claims Amazon infringed on a patent when it began selling a lighted cover for the Kindle. The suit was filed last month but amended on Dec. 22. M-Edge makes accessories such as covers, sleeves and reading lights for e-reading devices, including the top-selling …
