It has become a familiar sight in Odenton: large apartment buildings, rising along the town’s major thoroughfares. There are 259 new units near the traffic circle, and another 369 units under construction along Telegraph Road. Over by the MARC station, 235 units are now available to lease. All told, Odenton has more than 1,350 apartment units either newly built, under construction or in the development pipeline. Nearly all come with high rents and luxury amenities, and all are located within a three-mile stretch of one another. Business leaders in Odenton said the apartment boom brings the promise of new residents, putting a charge into efforts to expand the town’s array of shops and restaurants. But the community is also carefully …

Construction is ongoing at the new complex, but people are moving in.
Nearly half of the apartments at the Haven at Odenton Gateway are leased, property officials said, even while construction of units is ongoing. The complex has accepted leases from about 110 tenants, or 44 percent of the expected total of 252, Property Manager Jennifer Geroux said. The main common areas, including the clubhouse, pool and workout center, are finished. Leasing began in April, and many residents have moved in. Others have signed leases for apartments still under construction. Full completion of the project is on schedule for August. "It's very exciting to see the residents coming in now," Geroux said. She said many of the new tenants are employees of the Department of Defense, who have moved to the area due to the expansion …

It's been a little while since Patch checked in on the progress of The Haven at Odenton Gateway project. I spoke in January with Dan Rountree and Jennifer Geroux of Johnson Development, who led me on a tour of the site. There are 250 apatment units planned near the circle at Annapolis Road and Sappington Station Road. Since then, Rountree has been busy on YouTube, uploading frequent videos of the construction in progress. With good weather, the project appears to be on track for some units to be open by spring. The most recent video from Feb. 18 shows some of the interior of the actual apartment units themselves. A video from Feb. 12 shows some similar interior footage as well as some good outside shots of the lodge, or community center. A…

The first batch of apartments at the Haven at Odenton Gateway are scheduled to be ready for residents in April. There are 252 units planned.
The first batch of more than 250 apartments near the roundabout at Sappington Station and Annapolis Roads is on track to be completed by April, and leases are being accepted now. Officials from Johnson Development said they have already received inquiries for the Haven at Odenton Gateway, which is one of a handful of new apartment complexes under construction or planned in the area. Johnson officials said they hope to address a housing need for new federal workers coming to the area as a result of expansion at Fort Meade. “We think there’s a lot of interest in this area and this type of product,” said Jennifer Geroux, the Haven’s property manager. “We’re excited to get folks in here.” The Haven at Odenton Gateway will have one-, two- and …

We scanned Youtube and found some great videos of The Haven at Odenton Gateway being built over the last couple of months.
Anyone who's driven near the roundabout at Sappington Station Road recently probably noticed the large buildings under construction at the north side of Route 175. The portion under construction is an apartment complex to be known as The Haven at Odenton Gateway. It is owned by Johnson Development of South Carolina and will feature 254 units. We found some Youtube videos of the construction progress, with great on-site views that we'd never be able to get to ourselves. The Youtube user's screenname is JDAdrountree, and he's clearly someone from the construction team. He's been shooting and posting these videos since July, and provided an update as recently as Dec. 11. We've imported a few of the most recent videos here, but we encourage …

I think the Odenton Town Center complex is perfect and just what we need. Integrated retail and residential zoning instead of the sprawl that covers the region so profusely. Most of us live in town homes where walkability is a joke. Seriously, when was the last time you walked anywhere? Drive to the store, drive to pick up the kids and drive to work, all completely out of necessity because we …   more ›
