Fort Meade this week will host one of two discussions surrounding the potential impact of government budget cuts.  Installation Commander Col. Edward Rothstein will hold a "listening session" Thursday, to get feedback on the Army's plan to reduce and reorganize its force structure. The session will feature comments from members of the Fort Meade Community Covenant Council, which is made up of military, civil and elected officials near Fort Meade and throughout Maryland. Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, commander of the Military District of Washington, will also be in attendance.  Under the Budget Control Act of 2011, the Army has been charged with reducing its force by 80,000 soldiers.

After closing the golf course on Ft. Meade how long will it take to close the bowling alley, the movie theatre and then the commisary? We can 'partner' with all the similar suppliers off base. Just another screw job for military families that don't have transportation and cannot afford the cost of going outside. WAY TO GO COLONEL!!! Ron G. retired Viet Nam Veteran   more ›
