The 6-5 loss to North County marked the end of the season for the Wildcats.
The Arundel Wildcats' dream of another regional baseball championship ended in extra innings Wednesday. Arundel fell 6-5 in 10 innings to North County in the regional semifinals of the MPSSAA Class 4A baseball tournament. North County will next host the regional championship game against South River, which won 4-0 Wednesday over Broadneck. South River Boys Move on in Lacrosse The South River boys lacrosse team won the Class 3A/4A East regional title with a 10-3 win over Chesapeake on Wednesday. The Seahawks will next play Howard High School in the state final four. The South River girls lacrosse team, however, fell 14-13 to Broadneck.

Arundel hosted Old Mill in the second round of the Class 4A East region baseball playoffs on Monday. Arundel prevailed 1-0 behind a strong pitching performance by Cooper Hibbs. Much has been written about the potential destructive power of social media, but there are at least two Twitter feeds dedicated to bolstering the spirits of those at Arundel High School. The feeds Arundel Compliments (@ArundelLove) and Make Arundel Smile (@Love4Arundel) offer frequent words of encouragement and compliments in 140 characters or less. Many of the comments are general, but often are directed at individual students. "Never forget you are all beautiful!" came a Tweet from @ArundelLove on May 1. Another message on May 10 offered encouragement to those students taking Advanced Placement tests: "It's Friday!!!! hope everyone has a good last day of testing for the week! Finish strong. It was a tough Friday for the Arundel lacrosse teams, as both the girls and boys fell in the MPSSAA state tournament. The Arundel boys were upset 11-9 by Chesapeake, while the girls fell 14-9 to top-seeded Huntingtown. South River, however, remains alive in the tourament with both its teams advancing. The Seahawk boys topped Broadneck 11-7 and will play at Huntingtown on Monday. The girls secured a big 19-1 win over Northern High on Friday, and will next host Huntingtown. The Arundel High baseball team earned a first-round bye in the upcoming state baseball tournament. The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A East region after finishing the regular season with 10 straight wins. Meanwhile, Old Mill High earned the 10th seed in the east region and will play Glen Burnie. The winner of that game will play at Arundel in the second round. The Wildcats won to finish the regular season 13-1. It was the first win over Severna Park since 2001.
The Arundel High boys lacrosse team ended more than 12 years of frustration with a 7-6 win over Severna Park on Friday night. The Wildcats ended the regular season with a victory to finish 13-1 on the year. It was the team's first win over Severna Park since 2001. Tyler Young scored three times in the win. On the girls side, Arundel fell to Severna Park, 24-7. The Arundel boys will next play Northeast in the County Championship game Monday. The state playoff bracket will also be announced Monday. The action was fierce in rivalry games against South River.
It was a tough night on Friday for the Arundel lacrosse teams as the girls and boys each fell to South River. The Arundel baseball team, however, secured a key in-county win by beating the Seahawks at Joe Cannon Stadium.
