Police are asking residents between Hanover and Severn to keep an eye out for potential burglaries.
Anne Arundel County police are advising residents to be on the lookout for burglars in the Severn and Hanover area. Officers responded to three attempted burglaries near Severn and a burglary in the Harmans community of Hanover, between Friday night and early Saturday. In three of the incidents, an unknown number of suspects attempted to enter homes on the streets listed below, but failed to gain entry: In the fourth incident, police said an unknown number of suspects forcibly entered a residence on the 7600 block of Ridge Chapel Road and stole property. Teenagers reported two separate cases of men trying to take money and other items before 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Anne Arundel County police are investigating reports of two attempted robberies in Severn Tuesday morning. The first incident took place at about 6:30 a.m. near Indian Drive at Flintlock Court. A 17-year-old boy told police he was approached by a man with a handgun, who forced him to empty his pockets. The suspect ran away before taking anything. In the second case, a 15-year-old boy said he was robbed at about 6:50 a.m. while waiting for a school bus at the 8000 block of Pioneer Drive. The suspect demanded money and other items, but the victim said he had nothing on him. The suspect ran away without taking anything. In both cases, the victims did not report the incidents to police until Tuesday afternoon.

Police said one of the suspects was wearing a t-shirt featuring a character from "South Park"
Anne Arundel County police responded Saturday to an assault and robbery of a man in Severn. At about 3:45 a.m., officers came to the 1800 block of Arwell Court and spoke to a man who said he was approached by four other men, including one who had a handgun. The victim said he was struck in the face with the gun and was forced to empty his pockets. The suspects took money and ran away to the area of Pioneer Drive. Officers searched the area with the help of a K-9 unit, but couldn't find the suspects. Police described one suspect as a black man with a thin build, wearing a black t-shirt with a South Park character on it. He also was wearing a black bandana and dark jeans. Police did not have a detailed description of the other three men.

Police say an 18-year-old Baltimore man made threats for personal reasons, and there was no evidence of any real threat to student safety
Anne Arundel County police arrested an 18-year-old Baltimore man Thursday, after he was accused of threatening to plant bombs near the Old Mill school complex in Millersville. Police said an investigation revealed there was no real threat to student safety but they arrested Matthew Permenter of Jack Place in Baltimore, charging him with several counts of making threats and false statements. Permenter reportedly made the threats on social media. Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said an investigation determined Permenter made the threat because he was frustrated about being unable to attend the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, which takes place Friday night at the Old Mill complex. Officers arrested Jamar Davis of Severn in theft charges after a witness accused him of rummaging through a car Saturday morning.
Anne Arundel County police arrested a man Saturday in the break-ins of nearly 30 cars in the Seven Oaks section of Odenton. Police said they charged Jamar Nathaniel Davis, 19, of Severn with multiple counts of theft. A witness told police they saw him rummaging through cars in the area of Arcadia Shores Circle. Officers responded at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and spoke to the witness, then later observed Davis walking across Brigadier Boulevard. A further investigation revealed that 29 cars were broken into along Hidden Hill Circle, Arcadia Shores Circle, Liason Court, Miles River Court and Nob Hill Way. A full list of charges against Davis was not immediately available.

Anne Arundel County Police Chief Larry Tolliver announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon, in a letter that says the decision was not "stimulated" by negative claims about the department.
After a stretch of less than nine months heading police in Anne Arundel County, Chief Larry Tolliver announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon, as the county awaits the outcome of an investigation into claims of unfair treatment within the department. "I am resigning today because the department needs a chief who can focus solely on the department’s mission, something that is challenging to do in the current environment," Tolliver said in the letter. Tolliver's resignation is effective May 21. Patch contacted the office of County Executive Laura Neuman for information about possible replacements, but she has yet to respond. A teenager reported to police that he was robbed of his iPod near the Disney Estates section of Severn on Friday evening. Anne Arundel County police said they responded at about 5:40 p.m. and spoke with a 14-year-old boy who said he was walking on New Disney Road when someone punched him in the back of the head, causing him to fall into a small ditch. Police said the victim looked up and saw several males surrounding him. One of the suspects took the boy's iPod and then the group ran off toward the Lake Village town homes. Police said that neither the victim nor a witness could offer a description of the suspects. Police say they've seen smashed windows and slashed tires in the area of Waugh Chapel Road and other local streets.
Local police are warning residents of a string of incidents in which criminals have smashed windows or slashed tires in the Gambrills and Crofton area. Anne Arundel County police said that in recent weeks, they have responded to a number of incidents on at least seven streets, including Waugh Chapel Road. In several cases, windows have been smashed in with rocks or landscaping bricks. In other cases, suspects have slashed car tires or smashed side view mirrors. Police found the shooting victim in a car at the intersection of Route 100 and Route 170. He is in stable condition at a hospital in Baltimore.
Anne Arundel County police said a man was shot early Sunday morning during a party at a house in Severn. Police said they responded at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Route 100 and Route 170, and found an 18-year-old man inside a car with a flesh wound to the arm. About the same time, officers also got a call from a nearby resident who reported hearing two gunshots. After investigating, police said they learned that the victim had been shot following an argument at the 1500 block of Monard Avenue. After being shot, the victim and some friends attempted to drive to the hospital, but stopped on the side of the road. Police said are looking for two men in the shooting. A man says he was punched then robbed of his cell phone and wallet while he was walking to his home.
Anne Arundel County police responded Tuesday evening to a report of a robbery of a man who was walking to his Severn home. Police said they responded shortly before 9 p.m. and spoke to a man at the 8200 block of Averill Court. The man told police that he had parked his vehicle on Averill Court when another man came up and punched him, then took his wallet and cell phone. Police said the suspect ran away and may have then met with three other people who also fled. Officers searched the area with the help of a K9 unit but did not find the suspects. The victim declined medical treatment. Police did not offer a detailed description of the suspects.
