Man Hurt in Crash Near Arundel Mills

A 23-year-old man is hospitalized after the incident near Route 100 and Arundel Mills Boulevard Tuesday morning.

A man has been hospitalized after crashing his vehicle near the Arundel Mills mall on Tuesday morning. Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Keith Hamilton said paramedics responded at about 4:30 a.m. to a crash near the intersection of Route 100 and Arundel Mills Boulevard. An ambulance transported a man, approximately 23 years old, to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. Hamilton described the man's injuries as serious but not life threatening.

Four Hospitalized After Wreck On I-97

The crash near Brightview Drive shut down the southbound lanes for a period on Sunday morning.

Four people have been hospitalized following a crash on Interstate 97 in the Millersville area, a fire department spokesman said. Capt. Mike Pfaltzgraff of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of at least two vehicles colliding on the highway near Brightview Drive. Firefighters arrived to find several patients trapped inside at least one of the vehicles. It took about 20 minutes to extricate all of the passengers. Fire Department Seeks Help in Investigating Severn Blaze

A fire department spokesman said a fire on Telegraph Road Thursday morning may have been caused by an incendiary object.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is seeking the public's help in determining the exact cause of a fire that struck a mobile home in Severn on Thursday morning. The county fire marshall has determined that a fire at 7733 Telegraph Rd. was caused by an incendiary object or device, according department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser. Kooser said the department would like to speak to anyone with information on the fire, which started at about 5 a.m. Thursday morning. Investigators were on the scene for several hours Thursday to try and find an exact cause. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-222-TIPS. No one was hurt in the fire. See Also:

Firefighters Respond to Mobile Home Park

It took about 30 firefighters 20 minutes to get the fire under control Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded Thursday morning to a fire at a mobile home in Severn. Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the fire at the 7700 block of Telegraph Road. It took about 30 firefighters 20 minutes to get the blaze under control. There were no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

UPDATE: Woman Dies in Chapelgate House Fire

Firefighters say one teenager escaped from a second-story window.

UPDATE (9 a.m. Thursday)— A woman died Wednesday night after a fire struck a duplex in the Chapelgate section of Odenton. Officials from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department confirmed that the woman, approximately 92 years old, was found dead inside the home in the 1300 block of Tenbrook Road. One other person, a 15-year-old boy, escaped after jumping from a second-story window.  Units first responded at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and it took 25 firefighters 30 minutes to get the blaze under control, according to a press release. Firefighters found the victim unresponsive on the first floor of the building and pulled her out, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. First of all, it is a misnomer to say that the fires started for no reason. While that reason might not be readily apparent, cases of spontaneous combustion (while possible) are extremely rare. There is generally always a cause/reason. Pregnant Woman Struck by Vehicle on Chapelgate

The woman, about 20, is 40 weeks pregnant and has been rushed to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.

Updated - (Thursday, 4:05 p.m.) - A pregnant woman was hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck in the Chapelgate section of Odenton on Wednesday evening, fire and police officials said. Lt. Cliff Kooser of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. at the 600 block of Chapelgate Drive. The injured woman is approximately 20 years old and is 40 weeks pregnant, Kooser said. Woman Dies After Being Struck On Parkway

A woman was found on the side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and later died at a hospital, a fire department spokesman said.

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Tuesday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.   Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units received a call of a woman who had been struck while walking on or along the road near Maryland Route 100 West.  Thompson said she was found with very critical injuries and was transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore, where she later died.  Thompson said investigators were working to identify the woman, who was believed to be approximately 23 years old. 3 Hospitalized After Crash on Piney Orchard Parkway

Two people suffered serious injuries and were transported to Shock Trauma after the crash Monday afternoon.

Three people suffered injuries Monday afternoon following a crash of an SUV and at least one other vehicle on Piney Orchard Parkway, a fire department spokesman said.  Batallion Chief Steve Thompson said the crash happened at about 5:10 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Piney Orchard Parkway and Auburn Lane, just north of Waugh Chapel Road.  Thompson said a 73-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. Fire Severely Damages Severn Home

It took 75 firefighters nearly 90 minutes to get the blaze under control on Wild Willow Way.

A house in Severn sustained hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage from a fire early Monday morning.  Firefighters responded at 12:55 a.m. to a report of a fire at 315 Wild Willow Way, according to Capt. James Rostek of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.  It took about 75 firefighters 90 minutes to get the blaze under control. Rostek said there were two adults and one child in the home at the time, and they were awakened by smoke alarms and immediately called the fire department. The family escaped without injury. Rostek said there was an estimated $350,000 in damage to the home and its contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Property records show the house was built in 2007.

Smoking Materials to Blame in Seven Oaks Fire

Fire investigators said a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Seven Oaks may have been triggered by smoking materials that were improperly discarded.

A fire in at an apartment complex in Seven Oaks on Wednesday may have been caused by smoking materials that were improperly discarded, fire department officials said.  Division Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said that investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental in nature.  The fire destroyed several units in the apartment complex on Kintore Circle and damaged about a dozen units. Cox said about 30 people have been impacted by the fire, though property managers in Seven Oaks said they hope to find new apartments for those displaced. Wednesday's fire came about a month after another blaze caused $750,000 in damage at an adjacent apartment building. Cox said it does not appear the two fires are …
