A school bus was involved in a minor accident near the intersection of Annapolis and Disney roads Tuesday morning, but there were no reports of injuries. Keith Swindle, a division chief and spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said units were called shortly before 9:30 a.m. They responded to find that a bus had collided mirrors with another vehicle. Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesman Bob Mosier said the students were from MacArthur Middle School. He confirmed that there were no reports of injuries. Swindle said that the accident happened nearly 45 minutes earlier but emergency officials were not immediately called. Police said a fourth victim is in critical condition after a Subaru left the roadway and struck a tree early Sunday morning.
Three people died early Sunday morning and another is in critical condition after a car struck a tree near Piney Orchard Parkway and Riverscape Road. Paramedics responded to the scene at about 12:40 a.m. and found a 2005 Subaru WDX passenger car had struck a tree. They found three people, including the driver, dead at the scene. A fourth person was extricated from the car and transported by helicopter to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. According to police, the car was traveling south on Piney Orchard Parkway just south of Riverscape Road and failed to negotiate a curve. A Linthicum man recalls a day in 1963 when fires hit up and down the east coast. The area near Gambrills Road and Route 3 was particularly hard hit.
About fifty years ago, severe weather sparked a series of severe fires up and own the East coast. One man in Anne Arundel County is looking to chronicle memories of the fires, which hit some sections of this area hard on April 20, 1963. According to a letter to the Capital-Gazette, Joe Ross of Linthicum recalls how one fire wreaked havoc in the Gambrills area. The most destructive fire that day started on Gambrills Road around 10 a.m, near the power transmission lines, north of Route 175. Forced by high and gusty winds, the fire burned east, jumping both lanes of Route 3 near Dorr's Corner around noon, and was finally under control near Arden on the Severn in the early evening. Firefighters responded at about 5 p.m. Monday to the fire at a house on Oakton Road. No one was hurt.
Three adults and five children were displaced by a fire that tore through the basement of a home in Odenton on Monday evening. Firefighters responded at about 5 p.m. to the home on the 500 block of Oakton Road and found heavy smoke and fire. Division Chief Keith Swindle of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said it took about an hour for 28 firefighters to get the blaze under control. Crews from Anne Arundel County, Fort Meade and BWI Airport responded to the scene. No one was hurt, but Swindle said eight people received assistance from the Red Cross. The fire caused an initial damage estimate of $35,000. The cause remains under investigation.

It took 24 firefighters to put out the blaze in a crawl space of a single family home.
Firefighters responded Sunday night to a fire at a home on King Malcolm Avenue in Odenton. The fire started at about 8:15 p.m. and involved a crawl space in the house, according to Division Chief Keith Swindle, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. It took about 30 minutes for 24 firefighters to get the fire under control. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and there was no initial damage estimate, Swindle said.

One person was hurt when two cars collided near the intersection of westbound Route 32 and Telegraph Road. The crash happened Friday shortly after 6 p.m., according to Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. One person suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Details on the victim's identity were not immediately available.

Updated: (1:04 p.m.) - A teenage boy was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking on a road near the Russett community Thursday morning. Division Chief Keith Swindle, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said the incident happened just before 6 a.m. near Route 198 and Russett Green East in Laurel. The teen was transported to Laurel Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The Anne Arundel County Police Department confirmed that he later died. He was identified as Jaelin Ashe of Carriage Walk Lane in Laurel. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has identified the woman who died as a result of a house fire in Odenton last week. The department said Blanche Anderson, 92, was unable to escape the fire on Tenbrook Drive on Dec. 12. Department officials confirmed that her death was directly related to the fire. It is the sixth fatality from fire in Anne Arundel County this year. A 15-year-old who was also in the house at the time escape without injury. The fire department said the cause of the blaze is under investigation, but that it appears to have started at the first floor of the home. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages. See also:
