The South River High girls soccer team won the Class 4A East regional title Tuesday night, overcoming a 2-0 halftime deficit to beat Arundel High, 3-2.
The game was won by Maddie Koenig on a penalty kick in the second overtime, sending the Seahawks on to the state final four.
Arundel took an early lead on goals by Clarissa Kirsch-Downs and Allison Shaner. But Kacie Longo scored two late goals in regulation, and Koenig secured the win for South River in the second extra period.

Thanks for the coverage. It was a great game. Such ashame that the Edgewater Patch's editor Jonathan Moynihan failed to cover such a great game. The South River sports coverage really fails with the local Patch. At least we get to see all the criminals get their coverage. Good luck Hawks!
I apologize for not being able to cover the game myself, but I was busy assisting fellow editors in our Election Day coverage. As a one-man news team, there's only so much I can do.
Keep your heads up, you had a great season...most of the team comes back next year and should make a run at a state championship!
