Updated: (Friday, 5:55 p.m.)—When Arundel High football fans saw Alec Lemon play, they often commented that they were seeing a potential NFL wide receiver in action.
Lemon set a Syracuse record with 70 receptions in 2012 and has 2,589 receiving yards in his career, the second-most in school history. He is considered one of the best wide receivers exiting college, with many prognosticators suggesting he'll be a late-round pick in the NFL Draft.
He'll be in action this Saturday in the Senior Bowl, a showcase for some of the best college talent looking to impress pro scouts.
The Post-Standard in New York also reported that he's been working out in Arizona to improve his 40-yard dash time in preparation for the NFL combines in February.
But Lemon told the Post-Standard that he's just working hard and not paying close attention to projections.
"When ESPN comes on and you get the mock draft and stuff, I turn the channel and I don’t listen to that,” he said. “… When people text me, I try to ask them not to tell me.”
Do you remember Alec Lemon from his days at Arundel?
