Board to Vote on Meade Addition, School Trip

The board of education will vote on the design for the 12 new classrooms at Meade High to be built by a local developer. Also, it will hear about plans by Arundel High students to visit Japan.

The Anne Arundel County Board of Education will vote Wednesday on the designs for a new addition at Meade High School that is being built and paid for by a local developer.

The board will review plans by Arundel Gateway Land, LLC, which is investing $4.5 million for 12 new rooms. The new classrooms are needed to allow the developers to move forward with construction of hundreds of new homes in the Meade High School feeder area.

Earlier this month, the board to pay for the addition.

Arundel Gateway Land, LLC includes Ribera Development and Greenberg Gibbons, LLC. Together, they have plans to build Arundel Gateway, a major mixed-use project just south of Maryland Roue 198 in Laurel.

Also on Wednesday, the board will vote on plans by Arundel High students and teachers to travel to Japan, as part of an exchange program.

Two teachers are scheduled to travel with eight to 10 students to Sagami-Ono High School, near Tokyo. They will travel from June 21 to July 3.

Japanese students from Sagami-Oni , and will also be returning in March, Arundel teacher Sherri Bilheimer said.
