Arundel Sends 12 to All-County Concert Band

The students will perform on Feb. 4 at Meade High School along with other top musicians in the county.

Twelve musicians from Arundel High School earned position in the 2011-2012 Anne Arundel County Public Schools All-County Concert Band, scheduled to perform Feb. 4 at Meade High School, beginning at 7 p.m. Concert band auditions were held Jan. 4 at Meade High School. 

Earning spots in the concert band are senior Ashley Stewart (trombone); juniors Larnell Thomas (alto saxophone), Victoria Banos (trumpet), Brandon Rafsky (baritone horn), Jeremiah Quijote (clarinet), Emma Dixon (clarinet), Amanda Hautmann (flute), Adedayo Ogunbajo (baritone horn), Will McHarg (tenor saxophone) and Austin Olsen (French horn); sophomore Kelsey Cox (French horn) and freshman Brian Howard Jr. (trombone).

For Hautmann and Quijote, their selection marks the third time in three years that they’ve earned all county band honors, while Banos and Olsen earned their second selection. Last November, Quijote, Hautmann and Olsen were selected for the AACPS All-County Orchestra; while Banos and Thomas recently earned spots in the AACPS All-County Jazz Band.  

Tickets for the Feb. 4 performance, which also includes the 2011-2012 AACPS Middle School Concert Band, are $5 at the door.

Aside from Jeremiah Quijote's earning a position in the 2011-2012 Anne Arundel County Public Schools All-County Concert Band, he also earned a position in the SBS/YOUNG SOLOIST CONCERT to perform “side-by-side” with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on December 6, 2012 in Baltimore's Meyerhoff Music Hall together with other selected High School students of Anne Arundel County. He is the only student selected from Arundel High School.
