A local developer is finishing up some site improvements at the Odenton Health and Technology Campus, and will install a new 12-foot sculpture there this month.
AJ Properties has installed new sidewalks, upgraded landscaping and improved parking on the site, which includes two medical office buildings on Annapolis Road.
The Odenton Health and Technology Campus is just to the west of the Odenton Gateway complex, a separate development that includes Patient First and the new office building from Johns Hopkins and Anne Arundel Medical.
AJ Properties President Jay Winer said that with the sidewalk improvements, it will be possible to walk back and forth between the two campuses.
Winer said he is waiting for delivery of a sculpture that will be placed in front of the building at 1130 Annapolis Rd. The piece of modern art—commissioned from a Florida-based artist—will feature a large letter "O" and is designed to represent the intersection of roads and the railroad in Odenton.
AJ Properties is also working to secure leases for another 64,000 square-foot office building on the site, with a possible mix of medical and technology tenants. Winer said he hopes to start construction next year, once the building is about half leased.
Long-term, Winer said he hopes to work with the county on speeding up improvements all along Annapolis Road, but a lack of funding from the county and state remains an obstacle.
Master plans for the road include the move of the traffic light at the Odenton Shopping Center to the east, this making it easier for pedestrians to cross from the medical complexes to the shopping center.
