Odenton Commuters Briefed on New MARC Schedule

Officials from the Maryland Transit Administration met with commuters in Odenton to answer questions about a new schedule for the Penn Line that begins March 14.

Officials from the Maryland Transit Administration made a final push Wednesday to remind commuters of a new change in the schedule to the MARC Penn Line.

John Hovatter, the director of MARC Train, spent the evening rush hour at the Odenton station handing out pamphlets with the new schedule, which kicks in this Monday, March 14.

Hovatter said it was his seventh visit to Odenton to tell people about the schedule changes, which include more trains during peak times in the morning and evening.

"It's been very good, everybody's been very appreciative," Hovatter said.

Under the new schedule, there will be eight additional trains on the Penn Line, with four in each direction. The changes include new trains during the morning and evening rush hour, and an evening express train from Washington to Odenton.

Riders at the Odenton station said the new changes would make their commute more convenient.

Jerry Rosenbaum, who recently starting commuting from Baltimore to the Defense Information Systems Agency on Fort Meade, said the additional trains will make it easier for him to catch shuttles to the Army base.

"This will give me a couple more options on what to connect to," he said. "Having a couple of extra trains is very nice."

Terri Tolliver, a Columbia resident who works as a television producer in Washington, said it will add flexibility.

"For me it's great. It's perfect that I have a couple of more options," she said.

The new additions include:
