Fort Meade officials said that an Exxon gas station once accused of selling synthetic marijuana is no longer off limits to service members.
Army officials said they have lifted the ban on the Exxon station at 7898 Ridge Rd. in Hanover, after determining it no longer sells the substance known as SPICE.
However, they have added a Laurel tobacco store to the list of "off limits" establishments. Officials said The Tobacco Shop, located at 3351 Corridor Marketplace, is accused of selling SPICE and other drug paraphernalia.
Service members are forbidden from entering any "off-limits" business and could be subject to punishment under the Military Code of Conduct for violating the rule.
A ban against the Exxon station at 1318 Annapolis Rd. in Odenton remains in place. Fort Meade has also banned service members from spending time in the Arwell Court or Meade Village sections of Severn.
