Firefighters from the region battled a residential fire on Myers Court in Severn on Saturday just before noon.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Jack Beall said a fire at a home on the 600 block of Myers Court started as a result of illegal fireworks.

Two adults were home at the time of the fire—a 51-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. The man suffered serious injuries, but was not transported to a hospital. The woman was not injured, Beall said.

Odenton-Severn Patch reader Sean Wasta captured the fire on video.

Beall said smoke detectors did not appear to be active upon arrival, however one was heard in the basement of the dwelling.
