Three People Hospitalized After Crash Near Fort Meade

Traffic along Annapolis Road was blocked near Charter Oaks Boulevard.

Three people were hurt Thursday afternoon following a crash near the Mapes Road gate in front of Fort Meade.

Emergency personnel responded at about 1:15 p.m. to a report of a collision involving a tractor trailer and two other vehicles, according to Division Chief Keith Swindle of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

At least one crash victim was trapped inside a vehicle on scene and it took about 20 minutes for firefighers to extricate him.

Paramedics transported two men to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. One is approximately 52 years old, while another was about 36 years of age, Swindle said. Both suffered injuries that were serious but non-life threatening.

A third patient whose age and sex were not available was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Traffic was backed up on Annapolis Road due to the crash, and Fort Meade officials warned motorists to stay away from the area.
