Anne Arundel County police arrested three people Monday in connection with a car theft in Severn, and claimed that one of the suspects assaulted police officers.
Police said in a press release that officers responded shortly after midnight Monday to a report of three suspects—a man and two teenage boys—who were damaging a car near the 1700 block of Richfield Drive.
The suspects left the scene in the car, but officers then found them near the Royal Farms store on Blue Water Boulevard in Odenton, police said.
Police took the three people into custody, and later learned that the car had been stolen.
Police charged Alvin Theodore Prue, 33, of Severn, with theft of under $10,000, rogue and vagabond, malicious destruction of property, and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. They charged two 17-year-old boys with the same crimes.
Prue became combative and assaulted several officers during the arrests, police said. They charged him with two counts of failing to obey a lawful order, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, second-degree escape attempt, and disorderly conduct. They also said he had an open alcohol container.
