An auction of caps and jerseys worn by the Baltimore Orioles in June has netted nearly $25,000 for the Fort Meade Alliance.
The camouflage items were worn on June 14 to celebrate Flag Day at the Army's birthday, and signed by the players. They were then auctioned online.
The Orioles were expected to present a check for $24,615 to the Fort Meade Alliance before Tuesday night's game. The money will go toward the establishment of a resiliency center at Kuhn Hall on Fort Meade.
O'Day To Present Check to USO
Also this week, Orioles' pitcher Darren O'Day will present a check for $23,463 to the USO. The money stemmed from the pre-game barbecue he hosted for the USO on August 4. During the barbecue, the Orioles auctioned off game-worn Orioles items and other memorabilia.
