A Baltimore woman was arrested Tuesday evening after police found her unattended 4-year-old child crying in the back seat of a car in the parking garage at Maryland Live! Casino.

Anne Arundel County Police located the child around 6:30 p.m. on level four of the parking garage. The 4-year-old was cold and hungry, said police, but had no signs of abuse.

Police determined the mother left the child around 10 a.m. on Tuesday and entered the casino.

Alicia Denice Brown, 24, was charged with second-degree child abuse, neglect, and leaving a child under 8 unattended. Police arrested Brown after she returned to the car and said the child was hers.

Doctors examined the 4-year-old at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Child Protective Services developed a safety plan for the child and released the 4-year-old to a relative, said police.

Take away the poor kid. Cancel all of her welfare benefits because if she can spend 8 hours gambling, surely she can get her lazy a$$ to a job. Kick her out of public housing because she no longer has a child as an excuse to be eligible. Finally, use her MD Live card to see how much money she has spent at the casino and make her pay all of that back since it was essentially stolen from the working taxpayers. What a scumbag welfare slug!

Ugh this makes me literally feel sick. I hope someone takes care of that child. That women needs to be smacked.

I agree with each and everyone of you, especially Wild Bill's assessment that welfare is the government's way to control people. However, to be fair, we don't yet know IF she IS a single parent or IF she is on welfare. We already know she is a selfish parent only caring about her own recreation/entertainment/addiction. I want to know the whole story. Is there a reporter who would like to take on this story and find out the facts and make it a feature?? Not that we want to exploit the child (God no!), but what makes a parent do something like this? Our current culture is filled with stories like this, and it shouldn't be just a quick headline and a few comments. We need, as a society, to find the root of the problem and solve THAT! OK, I'll stop rambling on my soap box!
Wild Bill Cody January 01, 2014 at 06:44 PM
Pam...I also agree with you. As I said in my first post, it's only a guess on my part. Being on welfare should not be the topic of this discussion. Regardless of whether this woman is on government welfare or not, she has demonstrated complete lack of child rearing judgement to the nth degree. We even have laws for leaving pets unattended in cars, much less children. At the very least, this calls for a social service visit to the home.

Thanks Wild Bill. I was so exasperated about this issue that I did some research on the Judiciary Case List. She got out on $150,000 bail. (HOW did she get the 1%, 10% or a person to put their house up)?? She had a paternity hearing and the dad (who works at Comcast) must pay her $456//mo. However, she didn't pay her state taxes so the state government is after her for $2,142.66. COME ON REPORTER!! If I can find out all of this in 30 minutes, you certainly can do better!!
Wild Bill Cody January 01, 2014 at 08:36 PM
Pam...wow, you missed your calling as an Investigative Reporter or Detective. Maybe you should investigate this reporter to see what journalist degree they hold. Happy New Year.

Bill, I actually work for a newspaper. However, I earn more selling advertising than I would writing. (But the ink is in my blood).
k January 01, 2014 at 11:14 PM
Great work Pam! She must have been on a winning streak before the police took out her out of the casino. Based on the description of her car with the windows covered, it's probably not the first time she has done this. Scary to think how much longer she would have left the poor child there if not for the security hearing her screams. She never deserves to get that baby back.

casinos are evil. they make people do fcked up stuff.
Bob January 02, 2014 at 12:03 AM
I would also charge her with hairdo neglect.
John January 02, 2014 at 12:46 AM
Wild Bill Cody you do realize that blacks make up ONLY about 12% of America's population. OF COURSE there are more whites on welfare!! 70% of all black children are born into a one parent family. You need to think before you spout meaningless statistics.
lita January 02, 2014 at 01:45 AM
The article says, "The 4-year-old was cold and hungry, said police, but had no signs of abuse." Really? She was left alone in car for eight hours. THAT is a sign of abuse.

Gambling is a sick disease just like a cancer. It eats away a famiies resources, no groceries in the house, power being cut off, and all the other horrors such as this one, and it can happen to anybody. This woman needs help, don't cut her down, and the child needs to be placed in a safe environment until she gambles no more. that is as bad as any other habit or addiction. I feel for this woman I was there at one time in my life too, when you are in a casino you are in another world, denying reality. A casino environment does something to one's mind like a gas is flowing to make you don't care, and I do believe they release these kind of gases in these places, just saying I know when I was there I was a different person 20 minutes after I was in there. I quit in time and turned out good, I was at the point of foreclosure, starvation, and all the other things that goes with this addiction. Don't judge this woman until you look at yourself, she can come out of it I just hope in time, I know she has problems and she needs help. I know I can identify with her.
Shaka Zulu January 02, 2014 at 11:50 AM
You know we have to have license to cut hair in this state, we need to make one to see if people should be allowed to mate, this woman should be thrown off all welfare programs and denied benefits for the remainder of her life, take the child from her as fast as possible, she is the result of democratic policies and the give away programs. Another democrat taking advantage of anything they can.
none of your business January 02, 2014 at 12:10 PM
I am a liberal and believe in helping the poor. However, it's pigs like this woman who have kids for the sole purpose of collecting a welfare check. Let's help the child by removing it from the home permanently. Throw the "mother?" in jail....please!!
john Barnewman January 02, 2014 at 12:46 PM
Lets see, "none of your business" it is your type of people, liberals, who help bring this about, by "We have to help the poor". Well, I was born poor, 11 brothers and sisters, my mom and dad both worked my dad held two jobs and my mom worked raising us kids. At 18 I enlisted in the USMC, and retired after 31 years. During that time I sent 70% of my check home to help out. After mom passed away, my dad passed away, so I took on the responsibility of the last 2 girls at home. So shut up, liberal, on your hypocitical ways, helping the poor my azz, all you do is creat a cycle of poor people on welfare.
Dan Crabtree January 02, 2014 at 01:13 PM
welfare breed mares...millions of them out there reguardless of there color or heritage..the more kids you have the more the democrats pay you..for your vote..
Bryant January 02, 2014 at 01:50 PM
Leaving your kids in the car for any amount of time is such a gamble. The odds are so high that you'll lose it all, I mean, is it really worth handicapping your child like that? Plus, you'll end up en prison.
Amber Ashley Reynolds-Butler January 02, 2014 at 02:11 PM
And people wonder why I get upset at the fact that I can't have children. It's because of parents like this. This woman doesn't need children.
Traci Nelson January 02, 2014 at 07:11 PM
I hope they ban her from casino's until her children are grown!
Eric Bagley January 02, 2014 at 07:13 PM
Where does it say she's a welfare mother? Just asking, because I didn't read that anywhere in the article. Did her picture tell you guys all that about her living in welfare housing and not having a job and all that? I don't know where you people live, but most of the people who are on some sort of government assistance actually have jobs, just they're paid poverty wages, so it's up to we the people to help them out. Anyway, yeah lock her up in a cold freezer, not just for 24 hours, you have to put it in the perspective of a child. 8 hours for me as a kid was a LIFETIME. Let's see, 4 years= 35,063 hours according to Google. 8 hours is 0.0228% of 35,063. So if the mother 24 years old , then 0.0228% of her life would be about 48 hours. 2 days locked up in a cold freezer without food or water. Eh...that might kill her but w/e.

WHAT MATTERS IS THE CHILD --KICK THIS WITCH OUT ---SHE'LL NEVER CHANGE
Joan P. Crutchfield January 03, 2014 at 09:39 AM
WOW! Why am I surprised at the racist stereo type comments from the kind residents in Anne Arundel County? Where are the humanity concerns for the innocent child? Yes, leaving a child unattended for any length of time, any place is abusive for the child and the parent should be punished in accordance with the regulations and rules set forth by Child Protective Services. We (You) should spend your energy to make laws better and more enforceable so that people of all walks of life (welfare, SSI, Unemployment benefits recipients and work force, etc) can be and are held accountable for their actions. Our energy should not be wasted on name calling and individual (wrong) speculations of what is going on in the minds of people that we do not know. The young lady needs our help. If you have nothing to contribute in that line (to help) then pray (????) for her and her child and keep quite!
k January 03, 2014 at 12:24 PM
She doesn't need our help, the child does to protect her from this monster of a mother. We (the taxpayers) already help the mother by providing her every necessity in life to the point she has money to burn at the casino for eight hours. She does this while the rest of us are at work supporting her sorry lifestyle. She has enough money to make bail, but she is so sorry she can't pay for a babysitter? I'll pray that child finds a better home and never has to go back with that beast.
Pam Spittel January 03, 2014 at 01:02 PM
Again, there is no proof that she is on welfare, but I too was surprised that she was able to come up with the money for bail. I understand the grandmother has custody which presents another question. Which grandmother? If it is the mother's mom wouldn't she still have access to the child (or perhaps even living with her mom).
Pam Spittel January 03, 2014 at 01:32 PM
I discovered that several years ago this woman had a rather large Federal & State Tax Lien which was satisfied. That tells me one of two things: She has (had) a job and didn't file taxes or She had some large unreported gambling winnings.
George Rets January 06, 2014 at 10:17 AM
She has the same look on her face that my Doberman gets after he takes a poop on the rug, but my Doberman is better looking.
Mike February 05, 2014 at 10:35 AM
God, I hope they didn't release the child to Alicia Brown's mother/grandmother/whatever.......THEY failed her, Lord knows they'll fail the child as well.
