A man's right leg was nearly severed in a construction accident in Odenton, a fire department spokesman said.
Anne Arundel County firefighters arrived at 8:15 a.m. Thursday to the 2600 block of Conway Road in Odenton, where they found a 40-year-old man suffering from an incomplete amputation of his right leg, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Division Chief Keith Swindle.
A piece of heavy equipment had struck the worker, Swindle said.
The man was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore suffering from serious, but not life-threatening injuries, Swindle said. The incident is under investigation by Maryland Occupational Safety and Health, the spokesman said.
An Anne Arundel firefighter also suffered minor injuries in the incident, Swindle said. The man was being treated at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
