Top Slices in Town

Patch takes a look at a few of the favorite pizza places in Odenton.

If Odenton had a theme song, it would probably be "When the moon hits your eyes like a big pizza pie, that's amore!"  Based on the surprising number of pizzerias in Odenton—15 at our count—it is obvious that residents really do love their pizza.

This week we went out in town to ask you what you love about your pizza.  What makes you frequent one place over another?  Does taste trump a deal or is your taste governed by your wallet?

We met so many people who are really passionate about their pizza and loyal to their favorite pizzeria.  Overwhelmingly, your taste buds ruled over your wallet, but that doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice too much of your hard-earned dollars for the pizza you crave.  Based on an informal survey of more than 70 people in Odenton, the top three pizzerias where you indulge in cheesy bliss are Three Brothers, Mamma Roma and Romeos, and all of them have deals for cheap pizza every week.

Three Brothers on Annapolis Road is a very community-connected restaurant.  The origins of Three Brothers are in Brooklyn, NY.  Odenton residents loved Three Brothers sauce, which is a family recipe made from ingredients that are imported from Italy. Family and community are at the center of Three Brothers. This franchise does concessions for the Arundel High school games and for many years, Three Brothers has fed the coaches of the football team on Friday nights before games.  Franchise owner Shaun Fair says that 90 percent of his customers are on a first-name basis with him and often with each other as well.  Three Brothers is generous with the coupons and offers $1 slices on weekdays from 2 p.m. and $6.95 14-inch pizzas from 11-4 p.m.  The most popular cheese pizza weighs a whopping 44 ounces.

Our survey showed people also loved the pizza offerings at Romeo's on Piney Orchard Parkway.  The most popular pizza going out of Romeo's is the buffalo chicken pizza, according to manager Antonio Aguilera. At Romeo's everything is handmade.  You'll find no processed foods here. Romeo's Pizza has a great deal for Monday night football parties.  Every Monday and Tuesday night they offer a buy one, get one pizza.  This deal is good for any pizza on the menu including gourmet styles.

On Italian Tuesdays at Mamma Roma Restaurant on Piney Orchard Parkway, diners can order a pizza and get a second cheese pizza for $4.99.  Our survey suggested that Mamma Roma was well-liked for their New York and Sicilian style pizza, which are handmade using fresh ingredients.  Run by brothers Bruno and Rino, Mamma Roma known for its bright but casual atmosphere.

One thing is evident from our unscientific survey: there are plenty of pizza lovers in Odenton to accommodate the number and variety of pizzerias that dot our community. Whether you prefer thick crust or thin, pepperoni or sausage, extra cheese or extra veggies, you will find what you crave at Odenton pizzerias and if you time it just right, you'll have both happy taste buds and happy wallets when you enjoy your triangular slice of heaven.
