Update: 4:35 p.m.—The tornado warning covering the area has been canceled, according to a Tweet from BWI Airport officials.
Parts of Anne Arundel County are under a tornado warning.
The warning, effective through 4:30 p.m. includes northwestern parts of the county, including Severn and Fort Meade.
A confirmed tornado was reported near Colesville at 3:53 p.m. and was moving east at 50 mph, according to the warning.
The National Weather Service warning asks residents to take cover, move to an interior room and avoid windows. People who are outdoors should move to the nearest shelter and take precautions against debris. Drivers should not take shelter under highway overpasses or abandon their vehicles.
BWI Airport officials are telling customers and employees to seek shelter in the lowest level of an airport terminal or interior room away from windows.
