Wegmans Looks to Hire 360 Part-Time Workers

The company is accepting applications now for its new store in Gambrills, which opens Oct. 28.

The new Wegmans store in Gambrills is looking to hire 360 part-time employees in time for its opening on Oct. 28.

The 125,000-square-foot grocery store is accepting applications online and officials said they hope to schedule interviews and train workers as soon as possible. The new Wegmans is now under construction at the new Waugh Chapel Towne Centre development off Maryland Route 3.

The store in April. Wegmans officials said out of 520 total employees, 470 will be from Anne Arundel County or nearby areas.

"You don't need to have grocery store experience to apply," store Manager Gerry Troisi said in a press release. "We look for people who are energetic, focused on customer service, passionate about food and respectful of co-workers. If you have those qualities, you'll fit right in."

Wegmans said it will spend $1.8 million in training workers between now and when the store opens.
