August Revenue Decreases at Maryland Live!, Other State Casinos

The Maryland Lottery said the state's three casinos brought in $44.6 million in August, down from $48 million in July.

Maryland Live! brought in $32.4 million of the total $44.6 million generated at the state's three casinos in August, according to numbers released Wednesday by the Maryland Lottery.

However, last month's revenue at the Anne Arundel County casino was down along with total revenue: in Maryland brought in a total of $48 million with $35 million from the Maryland Live! facility at Arundel Mills in Hanover that .

Patch previously reported that casino revenue was expected to rise, as Maryland Live! at the end of July. The casino also recently opened a at Rams Head Center Stage, with more restaurants set to open soon.

Here are highlights from the Maryland Lottery's announcement on Wednesday:

  • Maryland Live!, which operates 3,717 machines, generated $32.4 million in August.
  • Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County, which operates 1,500 machines, generated $6.5 million last month. Note that August 2012 revenue decreased by $2 million or 23.8 percent from August 2011.
  • The Casino at Ocean Downs Worcester County, which operates 800 machines, generated $5.6 million last month. Note that August 2012 revenue increased by $1.1 million or 24.3 percent from August 2011.
