The Walgreens on Piney Orchard Parkway isn't open yet, but vandals have already made their mark.

It appears that someone recently spray-painted a brick wall surrounding the store's trash receptacle.

The graffiti appears to show a person's name, along with some numbers and the words "sorry bro."

Reader Jay Stubler alerted Patch to the graffiti and sent these photos.

The graffiti is not visible from the street, but can be seen by anyone parking near the back of the store.

Walgreens is expected to open later this fall.

So I guess it's no big deal to you. Maybe you'd feel differently if it was done to your home or your car. These mindless acts of vandalism cost all of us with higher taxes, higher insurance rates and higher prices, because someone has to pay to clean it up or fix it. Destruction or defacing of public or private property should not be dismissed so lightly. It doesn't matter whether it's a road sign shot up or spray painted by some idiot or someone's mailbox destroyed with a baseball bat. Parents and their offspring need to be held accountable for these crimes.

The Odenton Heritage Society bulding, around the corner from the Walgreens was tagged about two weeks ago.

I submitted the picture not for the recognition but in the hopes some parent might see and know exactly who did it. Maybe get the kids to go clean up there mess. But chances are these kids did it because they haven't been taught values by there parents.

It's "their mess" and "their parents."
And yeah, this tagging stuff is ugly, and stupid. But no one got hurt, and it is easy to remove. I have called the county numerous times to have tags removed from street signs. It costs the county (or the merchant or property owner in this case) a little money, but, again, no one was hurt. The most important thing is prompt removal---the quicker it is cleaned up, the more future tagging is discouraged. Let's hope Walgreens gets this taken care of immediately.

"Garbage people!" It is probably some a**hole kids and their mindless and pointless gangs of losers. This area is continuing to see its share of increased (or at least conistent) crime and crazy congestion. What a great place!! That's what you get when you live between 2 major metro areas and on the conveyor belt of crap that I-95 brings with it (drugs, gangs, etc.). I am a little bitter because I want better for this adopted community of mine, but do not see it happening. New buildings do not necessarily translate to progress, 'ya know?!?!

So is this a gang tag? If so, which gang? I know the police follow this stuff closely. And while I agree it looks juvenile, some of it looks kind of tag-like. Which I guess could be the point.

Along with what Midge said above, is there somewhere we can report graffiti? I took some pictures of graffiti at my kid's playground in Piney Orchard. This playground is behind the Food Lion, near some apartments. I'm sure this person could be tracked and identified...and it really pisses me off they're defacing playground equipment! I took pictures...where can I send them? Anyone?

You can always feel free to call the county police non-emergency line. 410-222-8610.

In the last ~10 days the Walgreens building, the Odenton Heritage Society building, the Odenton Kiwanis Club Building, the fence that borders the new entrance to the Walgreens and Ace Hardware and the Odenton Kiwanis Club building were tagged.
