Verizon Store in Piney Orchard Robbed

Police are looking for two men who they say entered the store with handguns Saturday.

Anne Arundel County police responded Saturday evening to an armed robbery at the Verizon wireless store in Piney Orchard.

Police said they are looking for two men who entered the store armed with handguns at about 8 p.m. Saturday.

Officers responded and spoke to a store employee, who said the two armed men came into the store and ran off with cash and merchandise.

Police searched the area with the help of a K-9 unit and aviation unit, but did not find the suspects.

One suspect is described as a black man standing 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 150 pounds with a dark complexion, wearing a blue ski jacket, a black ski mask and blue jeans.

The other suspect is described as a black man standing 6 feet, 1 inch and weighing 210 pounds with a dark complexion, wearing a light blue, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Surely SB 281 would have prevented this.

Agreeed McGibblets! Instead if they'd let the business owners or employee etc be protected, there would be a few possibilities, 1, the bad guys may think twice wondering if the place they are robbing is armed etc, or 2, they'd be stopped in their tracks, detered, or flee. But now, they got away with it, clean and easy, so it's not a matter of IF they do it again, its WHEN and WHERE. Bad guys - 1, Good Guys 0

Employee who doesn't know how to properly use a gun, pulls a gun on these TWO guys, gets shot...killed...and now instead of a simple robbery that most likely WILL be solved, we have a murder on our hands with a grieving family. Smart. Thank goodness you two are in no position whatsoever to make decisions for our community. I'm sure YOU are so much smarter than the law makers we have doing their best to keep things safe. Puhleeze.

I'm certainly not dumb enough to think that i know factually that
a) the employee didnt know how to handle a gun properly
b) the two guys DID know how to handle a gun properly
c) shots actually would have been fired and fatalities result
d) the case 'most likely WILL be solved'

Not only do you sound arrogant but quite naive as well.

I do know, factually however if I were a clerk at a 7/11 in this area I would have a firearm holstered and in visible site and yes I know how to properly use a gun.

Thank you, you are so right. I would much rather give them what little cash I had over having to live with the fact I killed someones child that made a bad choice or killed an innocent person with a stray bullet. Very few retail employees are trained or what to be a killer. But there are so many crazys out there that don't think twice about taking a life

I would prefer to provide a legal firearm to my employees and make sure they knew how to use the weapon for self defense and to protect the store from criminals that weren't affected by an ignorant gun law because the didn't buy their gun from a store; puhleeze

Why are we not safe now? They pass law after law to "Keep us safe" and we are no safer.

If you want safety, work for mandatory minimum sentences for people who commit gun crimes. End the catch and release system for criminals. 10 year minimum for first offense, 20 if the gun is not leagally owend, life for any second offense. Crime would drop faster than it would with any new gun law. All without inconvienecing legal gun owners who are harming no one.

I agree that stiffer penalties for gun violence is the best solution to the problem. To do 10 years for a first offence will be a deterrant.
Scare the criminals straight.

Marc Riley, I'm sure that's what I was implying, having a 16 year old untrained employee walking around the store with a gun. If you don't like my position fine, agree to disagree with it, but don't attack my intelligence or knowledge, I could very easily do the same to you! There are a good majority of lawmakers that do know what is good, but there are also a good percentage that could give a care less about the public safety and only about their own pockets and political agenda, if you think otherwise, then YOU my friend are the one who needs to wake up!
