Tolliver Sworn In As Police Chief

The county's new police chief was accompanied by his daughter and County Executive John R. Leopold.

An Anne Arundel Circuit Court manager swore in the county’s new police chief Larry W. Tolliver in a special ceremony Wednesday morning in Annapolis.

Tolliver’s daughter, Danielle Kane, and County Executive John R. Leopold accompanied the new police chief as he began serving in the role for the second time in his career.

The 39-year law enforcement veteran previously served as Anne Arundel County police chief from 1997 to 1998.

In a statement released last week, Leopold said that Tolliver “has an intimate knowledge of our police department … I am confident he can effectively lead the men and women of our police force and build on the impressive record of crime reduction established over the last six years.”

Before Tolliver, Maj. Pam Davis was announced as acting police chief after the former police chief James Teare Sr. announced his plans to retire

Tut, Tut, Tut, correction: Major Pam Davis was appointed as Acting Chief Of Police to become effective August 01, 2012, but no sooner than she was appointed a permanent Chief Of Police was appointed and his term began July 31, so Major Davis didn't even get to serve one day unfortunately. Chief Of Police Larry Tolliver is also a professional and has all of the credientials and will become
an outstanding Chief Of Police and an outsider of our "fine" Police Department wasn't brought in, so Congratulations to Colonel Larry Tolliver and I'm looking forward to your continuance in keeping our violent and serious types of crime rate lowered along with keeping a watchful eye on "response" time which is crucial. I'm sure you will have the cooperation of Major Pam Davis, who is skilled and has vision of our Police Department's future.
