Cops Shoot Odenton Man After Attempted Carjacking, Stabbing

Police said officers fatally shot Keston David Lewis after he tried to steal a car, stabbed one man and assaulted an officer when trying to escape.

An Odenton man was shot dead by police after he tried to steal a car and stabbed a man in Adelphi, several media outlets have reported.

Takoma Park Patch reported that Prince George's County Police are investigating the incident that happened Saturday, in which police confronted the man near the intersection of Riggs Road and Metzerott Road.

The Gazette reported the shooting victim was identified as Keston David Lewis, 19, of the 700 block of Linden Oak Place in Odenton.

Police said they responded just before 4 p.m. Saturday to a report of a knife assault. They reported that Lewis had tried to steal a man's car, then stabbed the car's owner when the man resisted.

In a press release, police reported that after a chase, they used a taser on Lewis, but were unable to bring him into custody.

An officer shot Lewis in an attempt to protect another officer, police said.
