Police Seek Man in Purse Theft at Hanover Safeway

Police have released photos of the suspect wanted in connection with the Jan. 23 incident.

 

Anne Arundel County police have released a surveillance photo of a man accused of stealing a woman's purse at a local supermarket. 

Police said that the suspect took the purse from the victim's shopping cart on Jan. 23 at the Safeway at 7643 Arundel Mills Blvd. in Hanover. 

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Detective Walter Sweeney at 410-222-6155 or contact Metro Crime Stoppers.

Not exactly sure how this all went down, but years ago a police officer friend lent this advice to my mother and me: when shopping with your purse, if you are going to put it in the child seat area, use the seat belt straps that are provided for the child and loop them through your purse straps and lock. This helps keep your purse with the cart, giving the purse snatcher a surprise so they can't just snatch, grab and run.
