Police Say Man Tried to Strangle Uncle with Rope

Police charged Jason Everett, 24, with attempted murder after the incident Saturday morning in Severn.

A Severn man was charged with attempted murder after police said he tried to strangle his uncle with a rope.

Police said they received multiple 911 calls at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday, reporting a fight involving Jason Michael Everett, 24, and his 51-year-old uncle. Police said they arrived and found the pair in the front yard of a home at the 7900 block of Citadel Drive in Severn. Officers had to remove the rope from the uncle's neck in order to allow him to breathe, police said.

The uncle was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police charged Everett with attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon. He has been held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis.

A search of online case records shows that Everett was also arrested on Jan. 8 on a theft charge.

Was it an assault rope? If so, it should be outlawed!

Hahaha that just made my day. Rope with more than 10 strands need to be banned immediately.
