Police Respond to Attempted Robbery Near Arundel Mills
Police allege Alonzo Kerry Banks used a handgun in attempt to rob two teens in a mall parking lot.
Anne Arundel County police arrested a Severn man Tuesday, and charged him with using a gun in an attempt to rob two people near Arundel Mills.
Police said they responded at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a parking lot near the mall and spoke with two young men who said they were getting into their car near the Neiman Marcus store when a man got into the back seat of their car. The victims said the man flashed a handgun and ordered them to remain there. One of the victims ran away on foot. The suspect searched the other man but did not take anything from him.
At that point, the suspect also ran off in the direction of the Best Buy store.
Police said the victims gave a description of the suspect and he was found nearby. Officers arrested Alonzo Kerry Banks, 21, of Severn and charged him with attempted robbery.
Police said that an investigation revealed the two victims knew Banks from a previous encounter and were likely targeted.

Arundel Mills is a piece of sh!t...crime, crime, and more crime...just a matter of time before the ills of society take over yet another former family friendly place...AACO residents are fooling themselves if they think that Arundel Mills is a nice place...it really is a shame that the crime happens and also that people waste their resources on this dump...

I agree, our communities don't have a crime problem as much as we have a demographic problem. When reality sets in i hope more people will see our society as it really is!

It depends on the demographic of the area, Annapolis and Columbia or any place in Maryland for that matter. This is really a petty crime, minor violence not like most black on white crime that goes unreported. You should look into that vw2003 it might interest you to learn the truth about what the media does not want to report.

@GW I didnt see any indication that this crime was a Black on White crime. Did you? It appears to me your own prejudices are clouding your ability to make sound decisions.

the key to Arundel Mills, if you HAVE to go is get out of there before the busloads of undesierables gets there. In the rare event that i go there on the weekend, I make it a point to get out by Noon. Once the buses come in, all bets are off. They simply overrun the place. I want no part of it !

Out of all the choices of potential "victims" at the mall, why would a young man pick 2 men, especially 2 he already knew---who could over-power him, or at least ID him? He must have assumed they had something valuable that they wouldn't have reported stolen.

I agree with Laura, sounds like they may have been drug dealers and he knew it, and that's what he was looking for.
