Odenton's Hess Station May Close

The company announced that it will be leaving the gas station business.

Many residents of Odenton have recently complained that there are too many gas stations in town.

But the town could lose one of those stations, after Hess announced that it will be leaving the gas station business.

The New York-based company said Monday that it will focus on petroleum export and production, and hoped to complete the transformation by next year.

If Hess follows through on the plan, it would leave a retail hole at 1518 Annapolis Road, near Fort Meade. (Hess also happens to have some of the cheapest gas in town.)

The news comes less than three years after Royal Farms opened an outlet on Annapolis Road in 2010, and as High's Dairy Store plans to open a gas station and convenience store nearby.

Do the Hess toy trucks have any value? Hess used to put them out around Xmas time.

They still put one out every year. I have about a dozen of them Some of originals have been sold for $1,000 or more.

According to this article, Hess will continue to sell the trucks at its convenience stores, some of which may remain open even if they aren't selling gas there.
