Long Lines at Odenton Library for Early Voting
The parking lot at the West County Area Library was packed, and the line stretched out to the parking lot.
It appears that many residents of Anne Arundel County chose Saturday to take advantage of early voting.
At the West County Area Library in Odenton, voters stretched more than 100 deep shortly after noon and parking spaces were scarce. Voters and library patrons were seen parking across the street at the M&T Bank and walking across Annapolis Road.
Long lines at polling places appeared to be the norm, with long lines reported at centers in Annapolis and places throughout Baltimore County.
The library will be open for early voting until 8 p.m. Saturday.
Early voting continues every day through Nov. 1, but residents are closely watching to see if the impact of Hurricane Sandy will force polling places to close early next week.

Deeper than 100 -- there were several hundred people in line when I went there at 10 AM. People were parking across 175 near the M&T Bank and walking to the library. I will vote later in the week, though I hope that Sandy doesn't foil my plans.

I voted this morning at West County Library. I got in line around 9AM, and was one of the first 15 people in line for when voting started at 10AM. There are only about 15 voting machines inside and it takes the average person who hasn't already marked their questions on a sample ballot 30 minutes to vote because there are so many questions. It's sure to be slow going. I'm glad I'm done.

Still at polling place in glen burnie. Been in line 1 1/2 hours and still waiting. Severna park was packed too. Its nice so many are out to cast their vote!

I got there about 10:15 am (Sat) did not vote until 1:00 pm and when I left, the line was longer than when I started and more were coming ...

I didn't want to get caught in the opening-hour rush, so I went to West County at about 11:30 AM. Your photograph doesn't tell half the story! There were snaking lines outside and inside. I didn't leave there until after 3:00 PM!! I think it would've been much more efficient if they had two lines: one for those who had already read the ballot sent to all registered voters by AA County (a great help!) and chosen their candidates and stances on the referendum, and one for those who were reading the issues for the first time. The machines were very sluggish (necessitating multiple hits of "next" on each screen before it would advance to the next, and I left with a bad backache from all that standing. I've never had to wait that long, even in early voting--but I guess that's a good sign, because it means that people are exercising the franchise. They're open today--1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, I believe. VOTE!!
