Kiwanis Club 5 Miler Set for June 23

Area runners can help support the local community group with a run through town.

The Kiwanis Club of Odenton will host its annual five-mile run through town on June 23.

The MARC Train 5 Miler and One-Mile Fun Walk will begin at the Odenton MARC station at the end of Odenton Road.

Registration for the race is at 7 a.m. and the 5 Miler will begin at 8 a.m.

It costs $22 to enter the 5 miler and $17 to enter the walk.

All active military members will receive a 50 percent discount off the entry fee, while current Navy midshipmen get a 10 percent discount.

All runners will receive a T-shirt, and there will be trophies awarded in a variety of categories.

The sign-up sheet is attached. For more information, contact race Director Joe McCartan at joemac31@juno.com.

I think I see the web site on-line registration link as www.active.com but I don't see the race? Maybe someone can put the direct link on the Patch web site?

Here's a link to the event at Active.com, but it appears that online registration is closed.

Regrettably, the Kiwanis had to cancel the MARC Train 5-Miler. Low registration numbers this year, combined with limited sponsorship, contributed to the cancellation. They will be contacting pre-registered runners in the near term to ensure registration fees are refunded.
